You know sometimes pages can be good even if they’re not necessarily by fan favorites. Here is a great page by Kieron Dwyer and Fred Fredericks and when you look at it, it has all the hallmarks of really good storytelling.
There are a lot of good choices that were made here, in terms of camera angles, body language, expressions – everything is just spot on. This is to me what good comic art is all about and we really don’t see quite as much of it as we once did probably because the generation of people working in comics today are regurgitating things from comics of the past.
Maybe I’m getting to that grumpy old man stage of life but, a lot of people in the business at one time actually read things other than comics, looked at art other than comics, before they actually went in and worked in comics.
